Privacy Policy

At St John's Chelsea we collect different types of information about our users for the following main reasons:

  1. To provide a useful resource in the form of an online directory of users.
  2. To provide an interactive website where email is used to communicate with the users.
  3. To provide a security mechanism whereby we can restrict content to certain groups of users.
  4. To enable the purchase and delivery of goods through our online shop.
  5. To help us to improve the service we offer.

Our principles

We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one sentence: we will not share your information with others without your consent.

We have established the following two principles:

  1. We will respect your email privacy. You will only receive email from St John's Chelsea in relation to areas you have expressly signed up for.
  2. We will not share any individual user details (including your email address) to any third party without your consent.

What information do we collect?

We collect information on our users through registration.

The minimum information we need to register a user is your first and last name and a password. We also ask for some further, voluntary information so we can provide a richer, more useful address book.

We collect information on our customers when you make a purchase through our shop.

We will collect your name, postal and email addresses, payment information and information about your order. Payment information is then transmitted and processed securely and is NOT held on our servers.

Who will have access to your information?

You have control over who is able to access specific items of information. By default your personal information will be visible to other authenticated users of the site. You can change these settings from your personal profile page. Your information will be used to build the online address book and show your birthday in the St John's Chelsea calendar.

What else you should know about privacy

Remember to close your browser when you have finished your user session. This is to ensure that others cannot access your personal information and correspondence if you share a device with someone else or are using a device in a public place like a library or internet cafe. You as an individual are responsible for the security of, and access to, your own device.

Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information over the internet that this information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information in publicly accessible online forums, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your usernames and passwords and any account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are using the internet.

Planning your Visit

Welcome!

We are a church made up lots of different kinds of people from different backgrounds. We gather together on Sundays and during the week and treat each other as a big family.

You are very welcome to one of our services, whatever your background or beliefs. We all come with all kinds of problems, struggles and doubts. None of us are sorted people, and so we like to call church a hospital for the sick, and not a waiting room for a job interview!

So, we’re just very ordinary people who have been deeply changed by coming to know the God who’s described in the Bible. That God no longer seems unreal nor remote to us, but real and powerful and life-changing. It feels like we’ve been given a dramatic new start through getting to know him. We firmly believe that this is good news for the whole of London and would love people to experience it themselves.

In terms of practicalities, we meet 11am on a Sunday morning.

Finding St John’s can be a little tricky for some as it doesn’t look much like a church building from the outside, and is located on the first floor above a police station (!). You basically go up some steps up from the World’s End Piazza and enter the building through the white doors at the top.
We have a lift available behind the stairs for accessibility purposes (we also have disabled toilet).

The service is informal and we sit on chairs around coffee tables in the main church hall. The service includes some singing, prayers and teaching from the front. We also have a short break in the middle. It is normally finished by around 12.30. No one has to participate in anything they don’t want to and everything comes up on a big projector screen at the front. Bibles are supplied.
If you want to, and have time, you can also stay after and eat lunch with everyone. We have food every week.

There is a separate group for kids aged 3-11 so they can go out for some of the service and have fun and child-friendly teaching during the service. Teenagers sit in for the whole service.

We’d love to meet you and are happy to talk through any questions or doubts you have. Come and get some hope in a very troubled world.
