Andy and Kathrine Mason moved onto the estate in 2006 in order to get a congregation going in what was a defunct Church of England building, St John’s. The building had been there since the early 1970’s but had no local congregation since the mid 80’s.
In moving in, Andy and Kathrine had the support of the local parish at St Andrew’s, the Co-Mission network, and a group of believers from another church who came to help out. With prayer and God’s work, a team gradually drew together and the church got going. It has been a big team effort with a number of people working hard to establish the church. Our goal has always been to build a church that is focused on reaching the estate in particular, as well as having a concern for wider London.
Over the years, we’ve built many contacts over the years with the local community, and have reached out with events and various activities. We’ve also had the privilege of training a good number of leaders for longer term Christian ministry and have sent out a number of people into Christian ministry elsewhere. It’s amazing to look back and see what God has done among us.
